Making Requests

I do, on occasion, take requests for models, maps, or other materials for use in an RPG or Miniatures game. I do have guidelines and my own set of rules for what I create and how I go about creating them, rules that I will typically not break. If you want the best odds of getting the product you request you’ll have to follow those rules, and a few other guidelines. Here are the guidelines you need to follow if you want to make a request:

 1) I will not make a model of something that there is already a licensed miniature of.

So no AT-ATs, no TIE Crawlers, no Rancors. Likewise anything in an upcoming set that has appeared in promotional materials for that set is also off limits. This also includes making “to scale” models of things with out-of-scale miniatures and models of things with a minor change or aspect differences, so no Spider Droids, “Dathomir Rancors”, or brown vulture droids. I make these models to expand and enhance game play, not to generate a free alternative to officially licensed merchandise. If you really want to steal from the hardworking people at Wizards of the Coast you can do it by yourself

 2) This is my hobby, not my job.

I make materials based on my interests, needs, and schedule. I will often work on several projects at once or put a project on hold if it has a complex problem or aspect that I need to work on. Please feel free to request a product, but do not send E-mails asking me what’s taking so long, why I refused your request, or why I haven’t responded to your e-mail. The more annoying e-mails I get, the more likely I will ignore the request.

 3) I reserve the right to refuse anyone, and if needed make a mockery of them.

Keep it polite and sane and you’re fine, get weird on me and you’ll find yourself the subject of ridicule.

 4) Use of words like “please,” “thank you,” and the like are strongly encouraged.

Sending me pictures of my models in use in your awesome games is also a nice way to suck up, which never hurts.

 5) Do not send images or files of whatever you’re requesting.

Links do just as well without filling up the inbox.

 6) Yes I will consider original designs or non Star Wars materials.

It’s actually nice to mix it up every now and then. Bear in mind that all other rules still apply, so no Leman Russ tanks or Rhino APCs. I might require a commission for especially complicated original designs.

 7) Good top/side/front views of any object or vehicle you would like a model of are a great help to me.

If it's an original design, even the roughest of sketches will help. Provide links to the images in the body of the request e-mail. This is actually a very good way of increasing your odds of getting the request.

 8) If the only easy to find illustrations of the request are in black and white, please list the desired color scheme.

I will not make any promises, especially if I want the model for use in my games, but it never hurts to ask.

 9) No models over 20 inches in length or width will be considered.

For Star Wars that means nothing over 20 meters long. Yes this means that many starships will be off limits. I know that the Ebon Hawk is cool and I’m sure it would look nice on a table, but it would also take up most of the table and therefore be impractical to use in play.

 10) When writing your e-mail, make the Subject the name of the requested model or material.

This way I can see your request and determine its level of demand at a glance.

Please send your request to requests@ghostofman.com

Requests sent to other addresses will be ignored.
